[f] [Project Foobazco]

Unsuccessfully predicting the end of the world since 1765.

Foobazco Resources

Project Foobazco makes available a wide array of computing resources for its members. The following is a partial list. Note that we are a 100% Microsoft Free organization, employing state-of-the-art technology in place of obsolete monopoly artifacts.

Fallout

  • Sun Sparcstation 20 model 152
  • Linux 2.2
  • 384 MB memory
  • 22 GB disk space
  • CD Recording capabilities
  • Primary web, ftp, and storage server for the project
This was the first Project Foobazco system. It is housed at the University of Nevada and so can only be used in certain ways. We are looking to remedy this. It is named fallout after the Project Foobazco predecessor, The Fallout Shelter, a much smaller project that began in 1994. All members are entitled to personal web and ftp space in addition to that used for projects. CVS is now available on cvs.foobazco.org. Anonymous access is available via cvs/cvs.

Ozymandias

  • Sun SparcClassic
  • Linux 2.2
  • 32 MB memory
  • 1/2 GB disk space
  • Primary mail and name server for the project
This is the only system owned entirely by the project. All project members are entitled to electronic mail addresses and/or aliases, as well as hostnames in the foobazco.org domain. HTTP virtual hosting is also available through fallout.

W7th-proxy

  • Dell 433/L
  • FreeBSD 3.4-STABLE
  • 28 MB memory
  • 850 MB disk space
  • Secondary mail and name server
This aging but useful machine provides backup services in case of failure. It also provides network proxying (via NAT) for some systems at the west 7th street installation.

Project Foobazco is always increasing its stock of resources and hardware, so this list may not be up to date. Project members contribute membership fees which are used to upgrade and maintain this equipment. Currently a lifetime membership is US$40, with additional expenses from time to time. Costs are shared by members and all surplus is spent on equipment and services made available to all members. Membership is not open to the public, but exceptions may be made if a strong enough case is presented.
