Project Foobazco was founded by a small group of malcontents in Reno, Nevada, USA in December 1999. Its purpose is to provide otherwise expensive and unreliable network services to its members and to encourage participation in Free Software projects. Our complete mission statement is as follows: Whereas, The Man is holdin us down with his elitist distribution of bandwidth; whereas, attempts to provide free network services always seem to peter out after a few months; whereas, luser@foobazco.org is considered by all involved to be a leet-as-hell address; whereas, we had lots of old hardware lying around looking for a purpose; whereas, the efficient creation of quality Free Software requires solid computing resources; whereas, obtaining these resources is difficult and expensive, or unreliable, or both; We therefore act in concert to solve these problems with the institution known henceforth to all persons everywhere as Project Foobazco. You might still ask "Yes, but what is Project Foobazco?" We have an answer to that too: Project Foobazco is a non-profit cooperative venture which provides to its members network services and resources appropriate to research, development, and production efforts of all types. For the hopelessly impaired: "Bunch of geeky guys with computers doing useful stuff. For certain values of 'useful.'" There's a list of exactly what we offer to members, a members listing, and a projects listing. |
